Throughout May 2011, Craig Sharkie and I travelled to various cities and ran HTML5 and CSS3 workshops. The events were a lot of fun, and we had some great feedback.

Craig and I would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who attended.

We also ran a competition for any workshop attendees who filled in our feedback forms. Three attendees would be chosen randomly to be given some book prizes.

Max Design Workshops 2011: Hands-on CSS3 & HTML5

We are very excited to announce our workshops for 2011. This year, two workshops across four cities – Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra.

CSS3, the newest version of the style sheet languages, is much more than cool effects. CSS3 allows us to create beautiful web designs more efficiently and with more flexibility. This workshop will give you a clear understanding of CSS3 – not just for the future but for today! Hands-on CSS3 will give you a clear overview of all the key aspects of CSS3.

HTML5 is the latest and most powerful of the HTML markup langauges. This workshop cuts through the complexities and demystify HTML5, making it easy to understand and apply. Hands-on HTML5 will give you a clear overview of all the key aspects of HTML5.

Outstanding contribution to the Australian Web Industry

I just received a huge parcel in the post. Inside was an amazing looking trophy from the Australian Web Industry Awards. I was recently honoured with an award for “Outstanding contribution to the Australian Web Industry”.

The award was a real surprise, as there are many in our industry who do a lot of great work for the web community. Thank you to all involved in the process.

CSS, JavaScript & Accessibility Workshops Early-bird rate

A quick note to let you know that our CSS, JavaScript & Accessibility Workshops Early-bird rate will finish at COB on 12 March 2010. That’s tomorrow! Costs of tickets will then increase to $275 per person for half day workshops and $550 per person for full day workshops.

Max Design CSS and Accessibility workshop series – 2009

A hands-on workshop with accessibility expert, Roger Hudson, and CSS expert, Russ Weakley:

Day 1: A practical guide to preparing WCAG 2 compliant websites – with Roger Hudson

An all new accessibility workshop that focuses on providing practical advice to help developers and organisations comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Version 2.0.

During the day, you will learn the importance of web accessibility, how to overcome common accessibility problems, how to reduce the risk of a discrimination complaint, and the techniques for complying with essential WCAG2 Success Criteria.

Day 2: Mastering CSS and XHTML – building elegant websites with Russ Weakley

Over a full day you will build a detailed website layouts from the ground up – starting with flat graphic mockups; and ending with clean markup and elegant styled pages using XHTML/CSS.

The course will cover styling forms, writing efficient CSS, use of sprites, sliding doors, dealing with browser bugs, creating print CSS and styling for different screen sizes.
